How to play Lizzie Loved a Highwayman

I’ve had several queries about how to play lizzie. I use a cutaway capo which only covers strings 3,4 & 5 and I detune the 6th string to D. If you don’t have a cutaway capo you can use the following method.

Tune guitar to DADGAD (G being 3rd from highest string).

Place capo on 2nd fret, covering strings 1 – 5 – you’ll need an open Kaiser or shubb type capo to do this because you don’t cover the 6th string.

Replace the chords in the book as follows: (frets are counted from the nut – not the capo ! fingers are index = 1

A = Finger 3 – String 6 – Fret 7 ( Right hand pick should lead from 6th string )
Finger 2 – String 3 – Fret 6
(You could get away with just fingering the 6th string on this, it’s up to you)

Bm = Finger 2 – String 4 – Fret 4 (Right hand pick lead from 5th string)
Finger 4 – String 2 – Fret 5

E = Finger 3 – String 5 – Fret 7 (Right hand pick lead from 5th string)
Finger 2 – String 4 – Fret 6

D = Finger 3 – String 5 – Fret 5 (Right hand pick should lead from 6th string)
Finger 2 – String 4 – Fret 4
